Activists Protest Labor Leader’s Imprisonment

November 11, 2015: Jafar Azimzadeh, head of Iran’s Free Trade Union, began his six-year prison sentence on Sunday at 10pm. Azimzadeh was convicted on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime” and “disrupting public order”.

In response to his imprisonment, several workers from Sanandaj, Karaj and Tehran protested in front of Evin Prison, where Azimzadeh is set to serve out his sentence. Find more about the protests and Azimzadeh’s activism here.
